Community Education

The sharing of technical information and the preservation of indigenous knowledge are crucial to the maintenance of rural lifestyles in Totonicapán. Charlas, or educational workshops, are an inexpensive and efficient method of disseminating information to the rural population Mujerave serves. Mujerave delivers charlas in Guatemala on topics ranging from the importance of breastfeeding, improving children's diets to HIV/AIDS prevention and family planning to women's empowerment and reporting mechanisms for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Mujerave feels strongly about the preservation of cultural and indigenous knowledge in Guatemala. Our charlas and workshops seek to offer a safe space for communities in Totonicapán to share and preserve this knowledge.
